And there really wouldn't be much point whatsoever in playing this game if you know your teammate's clue-giver habits.

I think this is a good idea. As a team-based game it seems reasonable to want to play with your friends on the same team.

The objections saying you could collaborate beforehand make no sense to me. if you want to cheat, you could just DM your teammate the list of numbers used each round.
My friends don't cheat, but we would like to pair up for better compatibility. Other games like online Codenames give you the option of picking your own teams. This should too.
