The rule book states, "Multiple arrows next to each other can chain together. However, you can’t create infinite loops. If you use the sum of the dice, each reward may only be claimed once."

In the scenario described here you are trying to use your sector 11 reward twice - once to go to 12, and then again to go to 10.

The arrow is not an award so this should work as i described. The infinite loop meams you cant bounce back amd forth to what's at the end of the arrkws on both sides repeatedly. I am in the middle of another game with an arrow in slot 8 and in slot 9 and 5 victory points in slot 10. When i get an 8 ot lets me select the arrow in slot 9, but then won't go to slot 10. Seems like there's a bigger bug here when multiple arrows are at play

I think I have a similar issue in my game. On mobile, ill add more details later. 3 double arrow cards in a row but I could only use the blue reward once. From my reading of the rules I should have been able to basically use the reward at the end of the "chain".

I'll have to see if there is an FAQ somewhere (BGG?) that addresses this, but I would suggest that an arrow itself could be considered a reward. My only evidence to suggest that is the phrasing on pg. 17 of the rulebook under Arrow and Reward.

"If there is an arrow and *ANOTHER* reward, you gain..." In the accompanying images in the rulebook, there are only a point symbol (the reward) and the red or green arrow (the "another reward").

And, yes, I will confirm there is a larger issue with multiple arrows. This is what just happened to me.
Pos 9 - Both Directions
Pos 10 - Both Directions
Pos 11 - 6VP

My roll was a 9. Clicking on the 9 highlighted the 8 & 10 for selection. I selected the 10, thinking it would at highlight the 11 (but not the 9 for the reason I suggested above), but it did not and instead sent me immediately to my purchase phase.

FSKFSK, I watched your replay, the chains worked properly for you. You rolled an 8 and chained to the 9 which also had an arrow. It automatically chained to the 10 without asking you as you can't chain back to the 8. If you watch the log it shows you got the 5 points for chaining to the 10.

I had blue 2way arrows on sectors 9/10/11. On my last turn, I used two +1 dice total powers so I could choose sector 9 (with 2way arrow). It let me select 8\10, but I couldn't chain 9 -> 10 -> 11 -> 12.

Jet082 was able to chain red arrows. The bug may be confined to blue or maybe it's an interaction with using a charged power.

Playing on updated iPhone 12 Pro Max with Safari. Multiple stacked arrows do not go all the way across.
I have red arrows on 8 and 9.
8 is rolled, I select 8.
Game asks if I want to also select 7 or 9.
I select 9.
Game gives me all the bonuses from 8 and 9, BUT does not give me bonuses for 10. In other words, the bonus stops at 9. The 9’s arrows are not being activated.

Yeah xcpenguin, you're right. The chain did work BUT it wasn't highlighted on the UI. You would only notice if you're following the replay log or paying close attention to your money/score.

People might think chained arrows aren't working because the UI silently gives you the bonus rather than highlighting the chain. Just like it says "automatically picking 7 instead of 3+4 because it's better", it should say "automatically chaining arrow 9 to 10 because it's the only choice".

Suggestion: Display it better on the UI when there is a chained arrow.

i believe this stems from devs not actually understanding how arrows work. no infinite loops does not mean that you can't use an arrow to go back to a sector, it just means that arrows can't loop. you should still get the rewards in this scenario, but not multiple arrows

xcpenguin, the game log clearly shows you getting 9 rockets from selecting the 9, which is the sector 12 reward, so the chaining is working properly. Once you select sector 10, there are no further choices to be made. Sector 10 can't give you 9 again, so it gives you 11. Sector 11 can't give you 10 again, so it gives you 12.

The rule book is quite clear that you can only gain any given sector's rewards once for dice assigned, regardless of arrows, so once you have made the choice of right or left arrow, there are no more choices to make. There's no way to double back to a previously awarded sector and earn it again, so every chained arrow must go the same direction, with one very specific exception:

If you have used the 9 ship that swaps with another card, or the 10 ship that allows a purchase to be placed into any sector 7-12, then you could have two arrow cards placed in the same sector. Once both those arrow cards are deployed, you can select for each arrow card which direction to earn rewards, so you could receive rewards in both directions.

Hi There, I also had a problem with the stacked arrows not working properly. The game was Space Base #256519852.

I had arrow cards on 9,10,11 and bought the 'You win (on 4 blocks)" card on 12. I also had some 'add 1 to the dice roll' cubes elsewhere. I rolled or manufactured a 9 or more a couple of times but the stacked arrows did not allow me to move on to the 12 - I was only able to move along one step.

My understanding of the rules is that I should have been able to move all the way along to the 12 (in one direction). I could find no mechanism to allow me to do this.

I also checked replay (boardgamearena.com/4/spacebase?table=241312788) from FSKFSK game. I maybe missed other occasion but at very end there was 8 activated and it went 8->9->10. So they seem to work, part of time at least. For me, when I've tried it in my games biggest issue was UI, It doesn't do a good job telling that it activated whole chain.. Only by paying close attention to little info box or logs you have any idea something else happened than selecting next column.

There really should be something that gives player info that "yes, I did activate also 10 (in this example)". In some games there is pop-up(ish) thing briefly shown on top if something happens automatically to notify player. Either that or some highlighting of those things that actually did activate would make it clearer for player.

Selecting 8 triggers arrows to move to slot 9.
However Slot 9 arrows don't trigger to take slot 10 income of +1.
This glitch has not been fixed when it should be legal to take slot 10. I double checked the rule book. Please fix.

F5 did not resolve the problem. Android on Phone, Tablet, and Firefox on computer all don't fix the bug. It's a programming code problem, not client side issue.

Rolled a nine. Game asked whether I wanted to use 8 or 10. Selected 10 expecting to be asked if I wanted 9 or 11 but the chain stopped. It should be recursive.

Problem was consistent. F5 had no effect. Restarting the turn had no effect. And the same thing happened the next time I rolled a nine.

@Skyron: The possible issues in this bug report are on my list to review. I'm a volunteer not a paid developer. The issue you describe is a misunderstanding of the rules. When you roll a nine and select slot 10, you cannot go back and claim the rewards for sector 9 again - you can only claim each sector's rewards once. From the rules:

" If you use the sum of the dice, each reward may only be claimed once. If you use the individual dice, each reward may be claimed no more than twice; once for one die, and once for the other die. For example, in the case below, if you rolled a 7 you would gain 1 and then also gain your 8 sector rewards. Your 8 sector reward lets you gain your 7 or 9 sector reward, however, since you’ve already gained your 7 sector reward for this roll you can’t gain it again, so you would want to gain your 9 sector rewards."

@Cinister: I don't see any problems in your game. I looked at these two turns:

Turn 50 starts with 2 points, 3 coins, 3 income, selects sector 10
- correctly gets 5 points, 11 coins, 2 income

Turn 56 starts with 19 points, 7 coins, 7 income, selects sector 10
- correctly gets 5 points, 13 coins, 2 income and charge on card in sector 10

@dangoodheart: I am not aware of any actual bugs with the arrow cards. While you had to select sector 9 explicitly, once you have done that the game automatically selects 10 for you since there is no other option. You didn't provide a table number, but you probably did get the 5 point reward for 10. If you see otherwise, please update the bug.

@dangoodheart: As expected, you did receive the 5 points from sector 10, and it's noted in the game log. I looked at turn 51 where you reset your turn several times.

When I have the arrow card on 11 and 12, and get 11, it does not use the arrow on 12 at all. This does not seem right. I should at least get the money and points again from the 11... It happens at the end here: boardgamearena.com/11/spacebase?table=457498692

@Lemuria85: I don't see any issues with your game. At move ~99 you selected sector 11 and got the rewards for both 11 and 12. The rewards will not "bounce back" to give you the rewards for sector 11 a second time.
