The rules are simple: when a player can no longer play, the game ends. If the player who can no longer play has the strict majority of medals... he wins. This is the case in your game. If you had more medals or equal... you would have won.
"The game also ends if a player cannot draw or place a Troop. In this case, compare your Medals:
If you have more Medals than your opponent, you win the game.
In case of tie, the player who ended the game loses and their opponent wins."
