At the point where you are asked to "Continue" or "Stop this Game", the "Continue" option resets the game to start a new game.
At that point I only had one more fief to battle (0) and accumulated 10 stars. I'm assuming that because at this point it is not possible to get to 16, that the game is abandoned no matter what button is pressed.
This has happened several times. It might be useful to be able to continue even though. you will "lose" based on points but get experience playing. -

Ok, but if that was the case, then the game wouldn't reset to a new game, it would continue on in the state that it's in, asking you to pick a new fief from what remains in the lineup. But it doesn't do that. It resets the game, and even shuffles the fiefs into a new order in the lineup.
